5 Key Material Handling Equipment and their Importance

material handling equipment

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the masses are trying to finish their work before the next lockdown begins. Raw construction materials are manufactured and rushed to the site for either the beginning of the project or for completion within the next lockdown. As a result of this rush and speed, materials are handled improperly and the correct equipment might not be used, resulting in damage.

This is where Mtandt’s Material Handling Equipment comes into play. Material handling equipment minimizes damage to the material, thereby increasing the safety of the workers, increasing productivity and maintaining the quality of the goods. Some of the major Material Handling Equipment include Truck Mounted Crane, Telehandler, Order Picker, Duct Lifter and Pallet Trucks.

1)    TRUCK-MOUNTED CRANE:

A truck-mounted crane is a crane that is used to load and unload goods from the truck’s deck. The cranes showcase a broad portfolio to cover all lifting requirements with cost-efficiency. From light compact cranes to highly precise ones, the cranes are suitable for various industrial applications: agriculture, construction, mining, transportation, environment and defence. Truck-mounted cranes enable smooth, safe and quick transportation of goods and materials. Made of high strength steel alloy, the cranes help reduce manpower and increase productivity.

Its application areas include the Construction Industry, Forestry, Landscaping & Gardening, Transport Logistics, Power supply, Inspection & Cleaning of building structures and large machinery, Military.

2)    TELEHANDLER:

Telehandler is a piece of equipment that is considered as either high reach or high capacity forklift equipment. This equipment can be converted to crane equipment, grabbing and clamping equipment or man lift equipment. The telehandler offers the load-lifting capabilities of a forklift with a lifting range of a crane. This machine has a boom that can extend forwards and upwards from the vehicle. At the end of the boom, multiple attachments can be fixed such as a basket, forks, or even a winch.

Its application areas include warehouses, yards, ports, logistics, distribution centres, the agriculture industry and a variety of other sites.

3)    ORDER PICKER:

An order picker is an equipment that is used to pick and deliver materials that are required for filling orders from the storage. Order pickers are usually used at elevations that are higher than the second level of racking in a warehouse. They are traditionally used for pallet trucks, rolling ladders, and other piece-picking methods. The equipment is responsible for reading incoming orders, selecting the right items from the warehouse shelves and then are staged for delivery. As a safety precaution, it is a must for all operators to wear a harness while operating an order picker.

Its application areas include high-level order picking, low-level order picking, and narrow aisle warehouses, logistics, manufacturing sectors and more.

4)    DUCT LIFTER:

A Duct lifter, also known as a material hoist, are used for lifting ducting, steel beams, air conditioners, HVAC installations and many more that are suited for industrial applications. In other words, the hand-operated telescopic masts are used for lifting heavy objects such as ducting and other building materials. The material hoist unit can easily be operated by one person and can lift, lower and move loads up to 650 lbs. Attachments of this equipment are removable and legs fold up for ease of storage. For the well-being of the workers, the duct lift helps reduce lifting and carrying and stooped postures by decreasing the need for workers to manually lift materials overhead.

Its required area of applications in industries includes shipping, logistics, warehousing, storage units, manufacturing plant, transportation. Other day-to-say applications consist of lifting, positioning, electrical fixtures installing air ducts, plumbing, sheetrock, ceiling panels, heaters, chimney pipe and more.

5)    PALLET TRUCKS:

A pallet truck, also known as a pallet jack, is a form of forklift that is often used in a warehouse environment, for the moving of pallets and palletised loads. It is a wheeled trolley that is designed to lift and transport pallets. The truck's tapered forks slot is found underneath the pallet ensuring the pump handle can then be used to raise and lower the load. Pallet trucks are useful for boosting the efficiency of manual tasks in warehouse environments, turning a multiple-person job into a one-man job.

Its applications are commonly used in warehouses, stockrooms, shipping,  logistics and other environments where wooden pallets are frequently used.

The advantages of using material handling equipment are plenty. Some of which include enhancing handling through streamlining, lowering overall handling costs in manufacturing, distribution and transportation, facilitating product control through better management. Not only this, an improvement in inventory management, as well as the accuracy of information through real-time monitoring, can be seen.

But the basic importance of material handling equipment is the safety it provides to the operators and the elimination of any risk. It replaces the majority of manual labour, thereby reducing the chances of workplace accidents occurring.

Manufacturing, distribution, and transportation handling costs are reduced. Enhanced handling through streamlining and better timing. By monitoring inventory in real-time, material handling equipment can improve inventory management and the accuracy of information.

Material handling equipment, which we provide, performs the processes of moving, storing, controlling, and protecting materials, goods, and products. Additionally, it ensures safety, efficiency, and productivity while remaining robust, durable, and cost-effective all at the same time.

YOUR GUIDE TO ALUMINIUM MOBILE SCAFFOLDING SYSTEMS - BENEFITS & APPLICATIONS BY MTANDT GROUP

What Are Scaffolding Systems? Scaffolding Systems is a temporary platform system erected alongside the buildings and infrastructures to facilitate construction, inspection, maintenance and repair. The system provides an additional layer of security for the construction workers to access work at heights. The sense of safety in the minds of the working crew results in enhanced efficiency and productivity. Commonly Scaffolding systems are either made of steel or aluminium, but for those engaged in the construction industry, using Aluminium Scaffolding is more beneficial. What are The Advantages of the Aluminium Scaffold System ?  1. Aluminium Mobile Scaffold Is A Lightweight Aluminium Mobile Scaffold weighs less than half of steel scaffold, making it easier to transport the system from one place to another. Being light in weight also allows for easy assembling and dismantling, making it an ideal application across various industries.  2. Less Labor Required For Alumini...
